Euchre Scoring
Points come from who made trump and how many of the five tricks they took. Classic Deck Games plays to 10.
Scoring table
Use this table for every hand on Classic Deck Games. The makers are the team that ordered up or named trump.
| Outcome | Points | Scored by |
|---|---|---|
| Makers take 3 or 4 tricks | 1 | Makers |
| Makers take all 5 tricks (march) | 2 | Makers |
| Maker goes alone and takes all 5 | 4 | Makers |
| Makers take fewer than 3 (euchred) | 2 | Defenders |
Makers win 3 or 4 tricks
If the makers take three or four tricks, they score 1 point. That is the most common maker result — you “made” the call without sweeping the hand.
Makers win all five tricks
Taking every trick as makers is a march (sometimes called a sweep). It scores 2 points when you play with your partner at the table.
If the maker went alone and still takes all five, the march scores 4 instead.
Makers get euchred
The makers are euchred when they take fewer than three tricks — zero, one, or two. The defending team scores 2 points.
Being euchred hurts twice as much as a quiet maker hand helps. That is why thin trump calls are risky when the other side sits on bowers.
Going alone
When you order up or name trump you may go alone. Your partner sits out; three players contest each trick.
Alone scoring on this site:
- 3 or 4 tricks alone → 1 point (same as a normal make).
- 5 tricks alone → 4 points.
- Fewer than 3 tricks alone → defenders still score 2 (no extra alone-euchre bonus).
Winning the match
Hands accumulate until one team reaches 10 or more. If both somehow crossed on the same hand, the higher total wins; the engine awards the match to the team that hit the target with the better score.
Worked scoring examples

Traditional Euchre scorekeeping
At a kitchen table, teams often track points with the unused 3s and 4s from the deck (or with a cribbage board). Classic Deck Games shows a digital team scoreboard instead — the point values above are what the site awards, not a paper convention.
Practice on Classic Deck Games
Play hands to 10 on the table, then open Statistics for maker success, euchres you defended, and alone marches. There is no undo and no separate difficulty slider — adjust Bot speed in Options if you want more time to think.
